Review of Innova Color Cast Porcelain-Enameled Cast-Iron 7-Quart Oval Roaster, Blue

As of this writing we've had the pot for a few weeks and have used it a few times. We've used cast iron skillets for years, but this was our first procelain coated pot.The pot and lid are indeed heavy, which we like.It works great for browning meat and sauteeing vegatables on our electric stove top, then goes right in the oven for braising. We've been trying some new recipes and haven't had a bad result yet.

The handles and the knob on the lid are large enough to be comfortable for grabbing with an oven mitt or potholder. We haven't run it through the dishwasher yet because it cleans up so easily in the sink. We've never tried the more expensive brands, but I'd be impressed if they cooked food any better or cleaned up any easier. We'll have to see over time how durable these pots are, but they show no wear from use so far.

At 7 quarts, this pot is large enough for a good sized roast, so we're now waiting for the 5-quart to arrive and will probably order the 2-1/2 quart for smaller recipes. If you're not familiar with braising (as we weren't) a good instructional cookbook may make this your favorite piece of hardware.
