This knife is outstandingly sharp and well balanced. It has full-tang construction for strength and durability. The edge is serated and cuts like the proverbial hot knife through butter. I certainly have not needed to sharpen this blade yet. It cuts even the softest breads and tomatoes with extreme ease and no deformation. The balance of the knife is perfect, it fits the hand well and is now my favorite knife to use.
