Review of Cuisipro Silicone Spoon 11.5 Inch, Blue

They're not the best spoon in the drawer, they're not the best spatula in the drawer... but for a dual purpose spoonula... they're good enough for most uses.

I bought a pair of these to replace some olde spoons I had that started to crack and chip. So far these are holding up very well, they've not melted in the really hot stirfrys, they've not taken on any colors or smells from lots of tomatoes or curry, and they've not scratched any of my good cookware. So from their performance perspective I'm happy. I knew going in that the shape was a hybrid spoon / spatula, and there are times that works very very nice; but, there are times when I really wish they were just more spoon than spatula. Especially when dishing heavy dishes, I've lost "spoonfulls" due to it just slopping off back into the pan (or worse, the stove top). Also twice in the first month that I owned them I've ended up having to use another spoon to mount a rescue mission to get the spoon head out of a dish of heavy food, after pulling the spoon out and just getting the handle. The connection is intended to be removable for cleaning... but it seems a little TOO easy to pop off. Solution is to just not try to pull the spoon straight back out, bring it out sideways.

Speaking of the handle reminds me that they seem awfully conductive for a cooking spoon. I have an (admittedly bad) habit of leaving the spoon resting on the edge of the skillet/pot when browning meat or stirring sauce... so that the head of the spoon is hanging over the food and the opposite end is resting on the counter or cook top, or floating above it because the handle of the pan is supporting the handle of the spoon part way along. Anyway, my other spoons have no issue with this. These spoons the handle gets warm in a couple minutes, and hot if allowed to stay there too long.

Once I got used to cooking with these instead of my old bakelite spoons, I'm mostly happy with them.
