Review of Nordic Ware Restaurant 7-Piece Cookware Set

First for the price you really can't go wrong. It would be a good "working set" for just about anyone.

Pros-
Cost, you really cant get a single pot for the price on Amazon for this set.

Non-stick surface

Good weight/quality

Cons -

The large stock pot doesn't seem to be as thick or heavy duty as the other pots/pans.

Lids are kind of thin, I would think the might get banged up some.

Long ship time from amazon approximately 2+ weeks. They tell you that up front.

Overall - Again I'm trying to be fair, if your expecting some show pieces for you kitchen to display these probably aren't for you. If you want a nice working set of pots and pans you can't beat these for the price.

Update 12/08- Since my review the price doubled on the Nordic Ware set. What was a great deal at $50 is just so-so at $100ish. Still a decent set, just not sure you couldn't piece together something else for the price range.

Review of Anolon Advanced Twin Pack 10-Inch and 12-inch Open Skillets

These are excellent skillets and an amazing deal for the pair. They're heavy-duty (but not too heavy to handle), heat evenly, are easy to clean and attractive. They are deeper than most skillets I have used before, and the sloped sides make it easy to lightly toss veggies or whatever you're sauteeing, sort of like a wok.The 8" is great for omelettes.I was not familiar with the Anolon brand but based on this purchase I am definitely impressed.

Product Description
This outstanding twin pack gives you two exceptional pieces of cookware that will enhance and add to any well equipped kitchen. One of the most used pans in any well-equipped kitchen. French skillets have sloped sides so that foods slide out easily. DuPont's Autograph nonstick surface on our Anolon Advanced makes cleanup fast and easy.

Review of Wearever Admiration 14-Piece Cookware Set

Purchased this porcelain coated non-stick cookware amid reports that other types of non-stick cookware might release carcinogens when overheated. This set is outstanding for the price. Each piece is designed to heat evenly and the porcelain coating is smooth and impossibly easy to clean. The lids included are sturdy and the whole set is asthetically pleasing in its gloss black finish. The plastic cookware included is pretty basic and unimpressive, but that's not the reason anyone would buy this set in the first place.I'd recommend this set to any home chef.Very happy with my purchase.

Product Description
Crafted with durable porcelain exteriors, this cookware set from WearEver is designed to remain scratch- and chip-free. The 14-piece set includes a 10-inch skillet, 12-inch deep covered skillet, 1- and 2-1/2-quart sauce pans with lids, a 5-quart Dutch oven with lid, and 5 nylon cooking utensils. Each piece has a nonstick interior safe to use with metal utensils. Cookware that is "safe for use with metal utensils" is safe with most metal utensils, such as forks, spoons and spatulas. Do not cut or use rotary beaters in the cookware. Extremely sharp utensils, such as knives, may scratch the nonstick surface. The pieces feature stay-cool handles riveted on for durability, as well as glass lids to seal in nutrients and to easily view food while cooking. The set comes backed by a lifetime warranty.

Review of Swiss Diamond Cast-Aluminum Nonstick 10-Piece Cookware Set

I really love these pans.I bought mine about a couple months ago and have used them every day since I received them. They still look brand new.Believe me, I have owned several different kinds of non-stick cookware and none of them compare to these pans. These are very durable and from what I have seen so far, they look like they will be in good shape for a long time to come.I highly recommend these pans if you are looking for something that will last.........

Review of Swiss Diamond 6-Piece Cast-Aluminum Cookware Set

My experience is the opposite of the reviews posted here.

I followed all instructions and cook at medium heat or lower.Yet, the only things that I cook, that is, oatmeal and congee (rice soup) both stick to the pot.I need to soak the pot in water for the food to dislodge.

Definitely NOT worth the more than $200 I spent on the set.

Better to buy a cheap teflon pan set and get better results.

Product Description
This 6-piece set contains an 8-inch skillet, a 10-inch skillet, a 2.2-quart saucepan, and a 4.3-quart stockpot. This unique configuration provides the best sizes all combined into one set.The 8-inch and 10-inch skillets represent the most popular sizes and are perfect for sauteing. The 2.2-quart saucepan is ideal for sauces, gravies, rice, and small quantities of soup. The 4.3-quart stockpot is great for larger quantities of soup, sauces, and gravies. Swiss Diamond cookware is a revolutionary cooking surface using up to 200,000 diamond crystals in each pan to reinforce the premium nonstick composite. It is so durable that Swiss Diamond cookware carries a lifetime limited warranty against cracking, blistering, or peeling.Since diamonds are four times more conductive than copper, ten times that of aluminum, and one hundred times better than titanium, no other nonstick pan can compare to the uniform heat conductivity of Swiss Diamond--from the center of the pan to the outer edge without hotspots. Swiss Diamond cookware brings together all the most important techniques you expect from a high-quality cookware set, browning, deglazing, and even producing a fond--the pan drippings that brown and add such rich flavor and taste to gravies and sauces. Review of T-Fal Ultimate Enamel 12 piece Cookware Set, Black

Received our set in 4 days, and the quality of the pots and pans are vastly superior to most others in the same price catagory.Amazon photo only displayed 10 pieces, which is exactly what we received. The box indicated it was a 12 piece set, but the spoon and spachula were both missing. If you are looking for T-Fal French cookwear, this may or may not be it since the box says made in China, Hungary, France and Italy.Did not say made in France anywhere on the pans like our old one. Will be interesting to see if these last as long as the French made pans.In any case, a nice buy for under $100, especially with so much other product out in the marketplace from other manufactures that is essentially useless junk after 4 months use.

Product Description
T-Fal Ultimate Enamel cookware is made to live up to the rigors of everyday use. The heavy gauge aluminum cookware features a Thermo-Spot heat indicator that clearly shows when it's perfectly preheated to seal in flavor. A patterned nonstick interior (called TechnoTough) is exceptionally durable, scratch-resistant, and safe with metal utensils. The exterior coating (called TechnoGuard) keeps the shiny enamel looking new and allows for carefree cleaning in the dishwasher. And the base of the pan is warp-resistant and provides even heat distribution. An ergonomically designed silicone handle stays cool on the stovetop and is riveted for durability, while a hanging hole facilitates storing on your pot rack. T-Fal Professional Total Non-stick cookware is oven safe to 350 degrees F, dishwasher safe, and carries a limited lifetime warranty.

Review of Cuisinart Green Gourmet Eco-Friendly Skillets

Cuisinart Green Gourmet Eco-Friendly SkilletsI am an avid home chef and a fervent hater of nonstick cookware. I went through so many sets of nonstick in my early married years, everything from the $30 "whole kitchen in a box" set I got as wedding gift to a "top of the line" set that my mother-in-law gave me years later. I babied the stuff, but it still wound up scratched and peeling and in the trash. And, I never liked the cooking performance of any of it. So, many years ago I threw it all out and bought an 18/10 stainless set- which I love and praise to anyone who will listen, and have never had to replace a single piece of. BUT, even I will admit that it's tough to get a decent fried egg from a stainless pan, so I kept an 8" nonstick skillet around just for that purpose. It was needing to be replaced so I decided to go with hard anodized. Hesitantly, I was going to get another brand with the teflon type finish. Then I saw this, and liked the idea of the the ceramic type finish. I can't tell you how much I love this pan. It fries beautifully. Sears salmon and steaks. Cleans with a wipe and a rinse. I have had this for a couple of months, used it MANY times, and am getting ready to buy the 12" for bigger jobs. Even my 8 year old can make beautiful(no tears)fried eggs with it. Oh, and did you know that you can thaw meats faster in it. Hard anodized is an amazing conducter of heat, so it pulls the cold out of the food. Just set it on the counter (covered) and wait about 20 minute (depends on thickness of the meat) turn it over once and voila you have thawed meat.

Review of Calphalon Contemporary Nonstick 10-Piece Cookware Set

All reviews I have read here which are negative come without warrant. Seriously, read the directions before you use your cookware, no matter which brand you buy. Any non-stick cookware will tell you NOT to put it in the dishwasher. Dishwashers destroy non-stick coating, not to mention your warranty! The directions will tell you this. READ!

Now for review...

Cooking:
Heat a little hotter than my last set and will need to get used to it. However, at the same time it seems like boiling water takes a little longer. I am still trying to get the hang of them. Transferring straight to the oven is indispensable. I was never able to previously cook by sautéing, then transferring directly to oven for a few minutes. This is the only way to cook! Honestly, I always watched the pros cook in this fashion and let me tell you, now I know why! This set can withstand up to 450 F temps.

Cleaning:
I went from Circulon to Calphalon Contemporary. Night and day is the range of difference for cleaning. My wife even says she doesn't mind washing these pans one bit because they are so easy. She told me the other day that sometimes she could probably get away with just wiping them out with a paper towel. And, every time she cleans them, she always mentally thanks me for buying them.

Issues:
One issue I have notice is the tightness of the lids. They suck to the pans and are sometimes hard to remove. However, I think this might be better than if they didn't. If you need a solid seal it is there for you, if not, then crack them slightly. I have yet to stew chops with peppers and onions in this set, but I think it will work out great because of the quality seal.

Do not hesitate to buy this set. Just ask my wife!

6 Month UPDATE: I am still loving this set of cookware. Have definitely got a better grasp on cooking with them now and must say they continue to please both the wife and I.

Review of Cuisinart Chef's Classic Nonstick Hard-Anodized 7-Piece Cookware Set

I have had this set for about a month and have had a chance to use them enough to have an opinion. They are well balanced and perform well, especially the sauce pans and stock pot.The 8 quart stock pot is large enough for a family of 4-6.Cuisinart advertises you can use metal utensils, but when you read their recommended use card, it says metal utensil will scratch the surface. That is a misleading marketing gimmick in my opinion.

My main complaint with the Cuisinart cookware is they heat up very quickly due to the thin 3 mm thickness. The fry pans are the weakest items of the set. After side-by-side comparisons against Emeril's All-Clad Hard Anodized, I much prefer the Emeril brand. The Emeril pans are 5 mm thick and seem to cook more evenly and are not near as temper-mental as the Cuisinarts.

For not much more money, I would look at the higher quality Emeril Hard Anodized set; and sorry Amazon, the best deals for Emerilware are using one of those 20% off coupons at Bed Bath and Beyond or Linens N Things.

Review of Cuisinart Advantage Nonstick Cookware 15-Piece Set, Yellow

I loved the color! The various items were good although a little lighter weight than I thought they'd be. I loved the nonstick surface. The problem was that the concentric circles on the bottom were rough and scratched my glass cooktop. Because the pots weren't flat, they didn't heat up as fast as the ads said they would. If I had a gas stove with grates, they would have been fine. As it was, I wasn't willing to buy a new stove so the set had to be returned.(

Review of Calphalon Dormond, Hard-Anodized Cookware Cleaner, 7-Ounces

If you want to keep your cookware looking like brand new, you really should use this cleaner. Nothing else I have tried works as well. When you useDormand cleaner, then rinse the pot in warm water, the water does not stay on the pot and it dries spot free and looks like the day you bought it.

Review of Rachael Ray 5-Quart Hard-Anodized Orange Oval Sauté Pan with Helper Handle

I have Lupus, and suffer from the growing loss of mobility in all of my limbs. I love to cook, but have struggled to continue using my expensive cookware because it is now too heavy for me to safely manage.

I have agonized over this development and had feared that I would be forced to replace my cookware with really thin (light and cheap) aluminum pots and pans. If so, I knew I would be giving up a lot of cooking flexibility and the quality I had learned to rely on and love.

At least, I thought that until Rachael Ray put out her imaginative cooking line! Not only does this five-quart oval saute cook like a dream, it weighs about half of what my other cookware does, has that great helper handle to lift it and serve the contents, and cleans easier than ANY pan that I own at any price.

As a result, I can continue to do what I love -- cooking -- despite my illness! When you're disabled, you have to give up a lot of things that had been meaningful in your life, not to mention independence. I applaud ANY product that is disabled-compatible.

In reading the reviews for this great pan, I hadn't noticed anyone raving about its weight. For folks like me, that's a really huge deal.

Thanks, Rach!

Product Description
Increase the valuable space on the stove of your busy kitchen with this unique oval shaped saute. Because of its design you can easily fit this large piece on one burner and even a second one on the next.

Review of KitchenAid Gourmet Essentials 10-Piece Hard-Base Porcelain Aluminum Nonstick Cookware Set, Red

I got a set just like this as a Christmas gift two years ago. I'm a fan of KitchenAid, and I have a lot of appliances and gadgets from them, but this particular set was a disappointment... maybe I just got a "lemon".

Within less than 6 months of use the nonstick coating on both pans started to chip off, forming a couple of unsightly "holes" on the surface of the pans, leaving me wondering if my family is ingesting tiny pieces of that coating with pancakes and omelets... The pans have never gone in the dishwasher (even though it says "dishwasher safe"), and I only use wooden and silicone spatulas with them. I ended up throwing the two pans away shortly after, since I didn't have a receipt or keep the warranty paperwork for it. The sauté pan, while still in use and with the nonstick coating intact, got warped after about a year, balancing itself on one middle point on my flat top range... On the positive side, the pots are still fine, but I don't use them much, the handles are very comfortable and the color adds to a cheerful kitchen.

Bottom line, it's a nice "pretty" set, but if you plan to actually cook in it, I would not recommend it based on the experience I had with it.

Review of T-fal Signature Non-Stick 12-piece Cookware Set, Blue

Review of J.A. Henckels International Classic Clad 10-Piece Cookware Set

I purchased this set because I was replacing my 16 year old radiant cooktop with a new induction cooktop and most of my older cookware was not induction capable.

I decided that these were a reasonable alternative to the more expensive All Clad cookware and, at this price, if they didn't work out well I could always afford to replace them.

I used them originally with the old radiant cooktop and was quite impressed with how quickly they heated, how well the cooked, and how easy they were to clean. I had expected stainless steel to be hard to clean but these are not. At times I will need to soak them for an hour or so prior to cleaning but most of the time that is not necessary. So far we have used regular dishwashing liquid to clean them.

I'm even more impressed with their performance with my new GE induction cooktop and I particularly like the interior volume markings. It is amazing how I can "titrate" the level of simmering/bubbling/boiling with the combination of the induction cooktop and this cookware.

In short, these are very cost effective, functional, and attractive.

Product Description
Henckels International Clad Cookware is tri-ply cookware composed of 18/10 stainless, aluminum and magnetic stainless. The middle aluminum layer extends from the base up the sides of the pan so the heat is conducted evenly throughout the pan. This increases the cooking performance of the pan and eliminates hot spots, which can burn foods because of uneven heating when cooking. The stainless steel material on the interior cooking surface and outside of the pan is high strength, resistant to rusting and does not react when in contact with food.

Review of All-Clad Stainless 14-Piece Cookware Set

This product lived up to the all-clad reputation as a quality set of cookware.Having had commerical non-stick calphlon, the cleanup is a little more intensive, but the fact that the product cooking surface is all SS is important to me primarily from a durability perspective.I will be buying more all-clad products.

Review of Gordon Ramsay by Royal Doulton Stainless-Steel 8-Piece Cookware Set

I really enjoy this cookware set, it has all the needed pieces for cooking any type of meal. The heavy slag of encapsulated aluminum transmits heat evenly and quickly and the stainless steel does not react with anything... While the heat transmission is great I do not use the high heat setting on my electric stove until the end after warming up the panor pot.As for the handles they are sturdy and tightly riveted and do not show signs of flex, in other words they will stay tight a good three or four years down the line. The lids are equally well fitted and really adhere to the pot or pan when cooking making for a subtle dutch oven effect when making a meal. All the cookware can go into the oven and the heat transfer on the steel makes for a nice crust on bread or crisp outer crust on meat. The quality and build are well done not surprising when you consider who is putting his name on the cookware, plus there is a lifetime warranty.I would give it 10 stars if I could.

As the set contains only basic pieces, you'll really use each and every pan. It includes saucepans for whisking a homemade sauce or cooking your morning oatmeal, a big stockpot for soups, stews or boiling pasta, and skillets (probably the most used pan in any kitchen) that will help you turn out perfect omelets or a simple grilled cheese sandwich. The set also includes a covered saute pan, a wide, straight-sided pan that can perform many of the functions of a skillet but features deep sides for extra capacity, perfect for one dish meals. Start your dish in this pan by sautéing onions and browning meat, then add your liquid and other ingredients into the same pan to finish on the stovetop or in the oven.

Review of Farberware Chroma 12-Piece Cookware Set

Farberware Chroma 12-Piece Cookware SetI ordered the black version of this Chroma cookware set with a bonus griddle, opened it up, leafed through the manual, and then found that apparently the sets striking ceramic exterior that complements every kitchen had really better complement new kitchens with glass or ceramic flat cooktops, because it is unsuitable for those cooktops in that there is a high risk of its becoming permanently fused to them if accidently overheated, placed too warm on a cold cooktop, or possible visa/versa. So if you have a gas stove, or an electric stove with coils, you are ok, but if you have one of the popular new stovetops where the burners are part of the same flat surface, you cannot use this cookware. Unfortunately, this is not part of the current product description. The manufacturer would not help me even though I feel this is more of their fault. They have some tiny icons on the side of the box indicating what stovetops the cookware does work with, but not what stovetops it does not. Amazon was great and payed for return shipping and I have suggested they update the product description. I do not think the general public is aware of these issues, and although some might have become aware by reading the manual for a new stovetop, others who received the stovetop when buying or renting a property, or who may upgrade their stovetop in the near future, or who are buying the set as a gift, are unlikely to be aware.

Product Description
This cookware set is an exceptional value, including all of the pans needed to equip your kitchen with the most used cooking pieces. As the set contains basic pieces in convenient sizes, you'll use each and every pan. Use the saucepans to cook a hearty morning oatmeal or simmer your favorite gravy, use the stockpot for soups, stews, pot roasts and pasta, and use the skillets for everything from perfect omelets to seared steaks.

Review of WearEver Stainless Steel Cook & Strain 10 Piece Cookware Set

I received this set as a gift three years ago, and I really love the set.At the time, I was not much of a cook and just out of college, but I am now married and we cook all the time with these pans. They are super sturdy and feel hefty without too much weight.I appreciate the "strain" feature and use it regularly.
The company also stands behind its products and responds to customers via email.I was missing one of the lids to the pans after a move.I contacted them about it, and they helped me to replace the piece. It was great service on their part, and although I know these pans are going to last me for years and years, I will probably buy WearEver again.

Review of Rachael Ray 8-Quart Hard-Anodized Covered Oval Pasta Pot, Orange

I am kicking myself that I decided to buy this Rachael Ray version over Analon's original design. I figured I'd save myself 30 bucks. This pan is really thin and heats pasta water rapidly because of it, but it is horrible for soups, legumes, etc. Because the walls/bottom of the pan are so thin, stuff sticks and scorches very easily. It's best for pasta or corn on the cob.

I do understand that it being lightweight is a plus for a pasta pot, as it makes it easier to lift and pour...but I really was hoping it could do double duty like Analon's oval 5qt saute pan.Thankfully, though it tends to burn my soup, it does clean up easily!

Product Description
The unique oval shape of this Pasta, Etc. pot means no more breaking long pastas, and the convenient pour spout makes draining liquids from the pot easy.

Review of Kitchenaid Gourmet Essentials 12-Piece Nonstick Hard Base Cookware Set, Red

These are excellent pots- the nonstick surface is an improvement over regular old Teflon and they're heavy and spread the heat well. Gotta love the splendid red color, too!
I find these cook a bit slow, but that's a good thing; I haven't managed to overcook and mangle a single thing in these pots. The heat spreads well and stays consistent, I haven't had any "cold spot" problems. They're also a snap to clean, I like an OXO Nylon bristle dish scrubber. Nothing sticks and pots almost wash themselves.
I wish they made a 12 inch skillet; but this is a perfect starter set and easier to use than a lot of fancy pots are.
Very Highly Recomended!

Review of Magnalite Classic 8-Piece Aluminum Cookware Set

My mom got this as a wedding present in the early 1940's.She was never a good cook, so I have been using it since the '60's.I stole some of her pieces when I married, but returned them when I found them for sale again.I purchased my first piece, a chicken frier, for about $25.00 in 1970, which was a huge price back then, and couldn't wait to get my hands on more.I bought a starter set of 8 pieces a few years later when I finally saw it again, and it forms the basis of my extensive cookware collection.I have been called the "Greatest cooker on earth" by many men, and I attribute some of the praise to this cookware.

This is heavy cast aluminum, with the same heat dispersal properties of cast iron, except that it can be washed and scrubbed.I polish mine from time to time, and it still looks new! It can be placed in the dishwasher, unlike cast iron. The cooking qualities are exceptional.Heat is disbursed over the entire bottom and sides of the pans, allowing a lower heat setting, and giving a more consistent heat to all the food within. There are no hot spots, which scorch the food and cause uneven browning or burning. The lids are heavy enough to seal the steam in the pots, which forms a mini-pressure cooker, cutting down on the cooking time a bit. They will not warp if overheated, which is important if you use electric heat.I mean, who hasn't lost track of time and let a pot burn now and then?It happens in a busy kitchen. But this isn't a catastrophe as it would be with cheaper cookware.I have added a few smaller pots as my family size has been reduced, but I cannnot conceive why anyone would want some of this designer/celebrity cookware with the raised rings that could never be scrubbed clean in a thousand hours!Just be sure you season the cookware in a slow oven first. (Wipe with cooking oil inside, including the lids, and bake all of it in a 225 degree oven for about 8 hours.)Reseason as necessary.Buy as much of it as you can afford, and add to it as the time and money allow.I use the heavy cast aluminum teflon skillets, and have gone through dozens of sets of those!YOu can't beat the Magnalite for delicate sauces, rice, and stews, or anything fried!

Review of Lodge Logic 4-Quart Cast-Iron Camp Dutch Oven

People seem to either love, hate, or have total disinterest in cast iron cookware.I love it.It seems to have a lot more soul than "modern" utensils.

I've been reading "Little House on the Prarie" to my daughter and she enjoyed hearing how the Ingalls used a pot just like daddy has.

This dutch oven is quite versitile.I can use it with campfire coals, with charcoal, over my Coleman campstove, or in the oven at home. The legs are too long to use on my rangetop at home (without risking damage to the range surface).

Dutch oven cooking is an acquired skill (on top of the general cast iron learning curve), but I've had no problems so far.I have mostly used it to make chicken or beef stew when camping.

Once you get hooked on dutch ovens, then you start wanting accessories.I use a charcoal chimney to start the coals, a pair of metal tongs to move the coals around, and a metal oil drain pan to contain the coals.I've just ordered a Lodge lid lifter, lid rack, and leather gloves to make the whole process a bit easier and safer.

I'm also already thinking of my next dutch oven.It will be the "deep" 8 quart. The 4 quart being reviewed here is 10" diameter at the lid and 3-1/2" deep. The "deep" 8 quart is 12" at the lid and 5" deep.(The standard depth 12" oven is 6 quarts, the standard depth 8 quart is 14" diameter). For soup or stew I like to leave some space below the rim so I probably only get 3 quarts in the 4 quart model, while the deeper 8 quart model would allow a greater percentage of the volume to be used.I imagine for bisquits or other baked goods the standard depth is probably fine.

Review of Lodge Logic Dutch Oven with Loop Handles

Lodge Logic Dutch Oven with Loop HandlesWhen I saw the price, free shipping, and factory pre-seasoning, this dutch oven proved irresistable. The size is great and the black color was attractive.Sadly, the factory pre-seasoning did not meet expectations! I learned to cook using cast iron, and I still own several "original finish" cast iron skillets, griddles and specialty pans (tri-ply stainless steel is wonderful, but some things just cook more evenly with cast iron). While cast iron is not difficult to season,it was just an added bonus to order a dutch oven that I thought would have an even, well applied finish to begin the seasoning process (properly seasoned cast iron pans only get better over the years). When the dutch oven arrived, I was surprised by what seemed to be a discoloration under the finish on the inner surface of the pot lid. I used the dutch oven for the first time to make chili. The steam from the chili caused the "pre-seasoning" on the inner surface of the lid to mottle badly, and the area that had initially appeared discolored was revealed to be covered withrust. A tell-tale metallic smell was also present (usually a sign that your pan might need to be seasoned again). Needless to say, I was disapointed. This pan proved to be MORE effort than the original finish pans since I had to scrub down the lid to remove the remainingmottled pre-seasoning, and to remove the rust. I then just seasoned the lid properly the old-fashion way in my oven. All in all, the Dutch oven is well worth $25 (and the saved $12.66 in shipping charges is also appreciated), but the Lodge Cast Iron Manufacturing Co. has a reputation for quality that this finish did not meet.I contacted the company to express my concerns (ie, did I need to take additional steps to remove all of the factory applied finish) and to ask if this problem was evident in other pans in the pre-seasoned line. The Lodge Co. has not responded to my email. Bottom line, before paying full price plus shipping, for anything in the pre-seasoned line, I would compare the cost to the original finish, or to the beautiful new Lodge enamel cast iron items.

Review of Farberware Millennium Soft Touch 12-Piece Cookware Set

I have been looking for a set to suppliment my Cuisinart set (3+years) for a while. After looking at samples at Target, I have decided on the Farberware Millennium and one day Amazon had a great price.
Right now Farberware is selling at $129 and Cuisinart 10 pieces at $109 with a muffan pan and tool set rebate.
Both are great sets, but here's the difference.
Farberware's silicone wrapped handle feels better than Cusinart, although cusinart's handle does not heat up in cooking either.
Farberware's lid, again with wrapped handle, is definitely better than Cusinart's. Both lids heat up and you will appreciate the silicone wrap.
Cuisinart has a great mirror finish inside and out; Farberware's finish outside is not as brilliant, inside is almost a matte finish.
Stainless steel is not truely non-stick. The better you keep the mirror finish, the more stick resistant they are. I've had the Cusinart for a long time and it held up really well (no abrasive cleaning). I may have to come back and update you on the non-stick nature of Farberware, but so far so good.
The Farberware Millennium is more modern and expensive looking especially with the graphite colored silicone handles. The Millennium' edges also fare better because they are more rounded and your dishwasher will be happier with it.
If they are selling at the same price, I'd go for Farberware Millennium.

Review of Cuisinart Multiclad Pro Stainless-Steel Cookware 7-Piece Cookware Set

Given the recent reports on the potential health risk from non-stick cookware, my family decided to go stainless. I liked the performance of clad cookware but reckoned that it might not be a wise choice financially to go all out with All-Clad before I have my own cooking show. The candidates came down to 3 product lines, Anolon Advanced Clad, J.A. Henckels International Classic Clad and Cuisinart Multiclad Pro. The best price I could find for them were all under $200 for 7 pieces, with Anolon having 10 pieces. Being all constructed in full clad, they seem to differ mostly in the handle design before I can do a performance comparison.

Henckels has a huge and unconventional handle. My first impression was it might not fit in my kitchen well. However, it was not until recently that I tried one at a local store. The pan balances well and has one of the most comfortable handles that I ever put my hands on. However, my family needs a larger stock pot and the included 6-quart one doesn't really serve our need.

Anolon has a silicon rubber handle. It's said to withstand the high heat in the oven. However, due to aesthetic preference and concerns about putting synthetic materials in high heat along with food, we decided to go with the Cuisinart set. In the meantime, we separately bought an Anolon Advanced Clad 12" stir fry pan.

The Cuisinart set is a very well made traditional tri-ply cookware with all metal handles. The built differences between Cuisinart and All-Clad is so insignificant to me that it makes the several-hundred-dollar saving and having a set of quality stainless steel cookware set truly a joy. The finish of the Cuisinart pans was superior to the Anolon stir fry pan. However, Anolon's silicon rubber handle obviously is more functional and practical than metal handles since it never becomes slippery or hot in your day-to-day use. I guess this would come down to a personal preference.

The pans both brown well and distribute heat quickly and evenly. The cleaning is also a breeze as long as you heat the pans briefly before cooking. Overall, I'm very satisfied with this purchase.

Review of Circulon Elite 10-Piece Nonstick Hard-Anodized Cookware Set

Review of Lodge Max Temp Handle Mitt, Black

This mitt is good at insulating handles from heat... one can hold the skillet comfortably without feeling the heat. I don't think this thing can resist as high temperatures as stated on the product description because mine has already scorched at the edge where it comes in contact with the pan and as a result the fabric is fraying badly. I have never left the mitt in place while cooking, I have only used it to move the pan from the stove to the sink or to lift the pan to serve meals from it so I guess that the black fabric covering the outside of the mitt is not very heat-resistant.

Product Description
"MaxTemp" Hot Handle Mitt is made of heavy-duty Pyrotex, which resists scorching and burning to 495 degrees. Ideal as an all purpose handle mitt where safety is important. Also suitable for using outdoors when cooking on the BBQ. The Max Temp features heavy cotton batting and a steam barrier for ultimate heat protection. The thick terry lining protects from heat without sticking to the handle. It comes single-packed, not a pair.

Review of Paula Deen Cookware Sets

Paula Deen Cookware SetsI just purchased this set and put them in the dishwasher. I don't want anything I have to wash by hand. As I was putting away I was drying the waters spots off the dutch oven my towel became red. That piece lost it's shine and the others remained shiny. I am really disappointed. My first set of new cookware in 17 years. This set let me down.

Review of All-Clad Stainless 9-Piece Cookware Set

For a good even heat, excellent quality of workmanship, and a dependable name, I can't think of anything better than All-Clad.For years, I used cheap cookware store non-stick skillets and hand-me-down pots and pans my mother used when she first got married. What a difference it makes.

Most cookware is way too thin, which leaves you with hotspots. For years, I would make up for this by using a cast iron "defuser" to even out the heat and keep the direct flame off the bottom of the pan.I don't have to do this any more. With the triple-layering, you get even heating, regardless of whether it's the middle of the pan or the outer edge.

Personally, I like the stainless.MC2 wasn't around when I bought mine, and I might have chosen that because of the low-maintanace exterior, but I'm not regretting it either.I don't have to be worrying about scratching through the coating with it and it cleans up easy enough with a little water and even less elbow grease.

Cooking will always be a chore, even if you enjoy the act in itself, if you never invest in good cookware and good knives. This is the first step on at least one of those. You might also wish to add a double-boiler, the steamer insert and a 1 qt. saucier; and maybe a larger stock pot (12 qt. if you can afford it), but this really lets you hit the ground running.

Product Description
Set includes a 10-inch fry pan, 2-quart covered saucepan with lid, 3-quart covered sauté pan, 3-quart covered casserole pan, 6-quart covered stockpot.

Review of Silverstone by Farberware Culinary Colors 13-Piece Cookware Set, Red

I LOVE this cookware set.Water seems to boil faster than usual & other things seem to cook a little quicker.Especially with stuff like spaghetti, my cooking time has actually decreased. And, I don't have areas of the pan that burn worse than other parts like I've had with other cookware sets.Clean-up is also really easy.

There was one thing that I was VERY surprised about though.I'm someone who usually feels the heat (when touching the handles, for instance) more than other people seemto but with this cookware, I never have to use a hot pad.I don't know what the substance is that they have covering the handles but it's really nice to just be able to pull stuff off the stove & not worry about getting burned.

I recommend this cookware to everyone!

Review of Emerilware Stainlees Steel Cookware Sets

Emerilware Stainlees Steel Cookware SetsMy kids moved out and it was time to get professional grade cookware. Baby let me tell you what! This is it; you can not get any better. This is top of the line but if you have not used professional cookware you will need to learn to cook all over. Non-stick is not professional cookware by the way. No matter how much you clean non-stick and take care of non-stick, it will always have food/taste carry over from what ever you cooked before. Stainless Steal will not ever have carry over taste.Follow the all-clad cooking tips and watch Food TV and you will not only be cooking like a pro but you will feel like a pro and really enjoy cooking. The only exception to this is scrambled eggs, keep or buy a non-stick fry pan just for scrambled eggs. I myself added the 8" stainless steal with non-stick coating from Emerilware. Hey you got have at least one non-stick coating pan on hand, what good chef would not. So it might as well be the best.

Review of Cuisinart Multiclad Unlimited Dishwasher Safe 12-Piece Cookware Set

First off let me say that this is a beautiful cookware set.For the pans that are included this is a steal.Cooking performance is superb and is equal to All Clads LTD. set.The one place that this cookware loses a star is in the finish.Where the anodized exterior meets the stainless interior is somewhat sloppy. It's not horrible but I expect more from Cuisinart. There are also a few barely perceptible dents here and there.I believe that I found two on the exteriors that no one else can see.I have aslo found at least two in the interiors. This does not at all take away from the cooking performance and I highly recommend this set.

Review of T-fal Signature Non-Stick 12-piece Cookware Set, Black

We ordered this set to add on to an existing mish mash of pots and pans we've had for years. The hope was that we could toss some of the older pans out.
Strong Points: Great coating, the food literally slides off with little effort. Inclusion of a couple tools is a nice touch (though not sure it's worth paying more for, as the tools probably retail for a dollar or two). Heating distribution is even, and so it cooks effectively.
Weak Points: Small. It's hard at times to convert 8" pot into a visual, especially when the pictures show things that look bigger. A few of the pans are suitable for children, but not big enough tocook something for a single adult.
Overall, the product appears well made, but I would go to a more expensive set with a larger selection of pots and pans if I was going to use these as my primary cooking utensils.

Review of KitchenAid Gourmet Reserved Cookware Sets

KitchenAid Gourmet Reserved Cookware SetsI have been using this cookware for a few weeks and I am very happy with them.We have a glass top stove and they are very flat on the bottom making for excellent heat conduction.Water boils twice as fast as the old pans we were using.

They go in the dishwasher and come out clean and shiny. We'll see how they look over time, but so far, they still look like new.The glass tops have a metal edge around to protect them.I love being able to see my food without removing the top.

The only complaint I have is that the insides stain a little bit when making tea, but it's no big deal.

Product Description
This cookware set is an exceptional value, including all of the pans needed to equip your kitchen with the most used cooking pieces.

Review of Cuisinart Greenware Eco-Friendly Nonstick 10 Piece Stainless Steel Cookware Set

This set is the most amazing one I have worked with.I have used various other nonstick pans, stainless steel, cast iron... and i prefer these pans over all.One thing to note is that the nonstick surface scratches right off of these pans if you use any kind of metal. As the pans have exposed metal on them it is not a good idea to stack them on top of each other or to let pile up in the sink. This has not at all been a problem for me because the cleanup on these pans is super fast.Get yourself a set of bamboo kitchen utensils in addition to this set and your in business for some eco-friendly low toxicity cooking.

Review of Cameron Cookware Stainless Steel Stovetop Smoker

I just tried my stovetop smoker and was amazed at the results.I've used a large outdoor smoker for years, and was skeptical about the stovetop smoker.I used it to prepare chicken breasts, and they cooked fast and were juicy and tender, and had just the right amount of smoke flavor. I'm looking forward to using my stovetop smoker for seafood and vegetables. It's a great way to add flavor to food, and a very healthy way to cook.

The smoker is constructed from heavy steel and is well made.I could smell the smoke as the food cooked, but it wasn't intense and there was no smoke in the house.I'll still use my outdoor smoker for batch cooking or for smoking large birds, but expect to get a lot of use out of the stovetop smoker.
