Review of Calphalon Contemporary 17-Piece Knife Block Set

I purchased a single Calphalon knife (the 7" Santoku) from a local store to try this brand, as I had not used it before.I LOVED the Santoku knife, and even though it's recommended that you sharpen the knives before each use, I did not do it, just to see how long it would hold its edge.The one knife past the test w/flying colors, only having to sharpen once every 6 or 7 uses.So, I decided to purchase the complete set.I've had the set now for about a month, and I'm here to tell you that I've had to sharpen each and every knife EVERY TIME before I use them.The knives work wonderfully, when they are sharpened, but they DO NOT hold the edge for more than a single use.Needless to say, I am disappointed.The set is very attractive and it will look great on your counter, but be prepared to sharpen, sharpen, sharpen...
