Review of J.A. Henckels International Classic Clad 5-Quart Saute Pan with Lid

I'm not a big fan of non stick pans due to bad experiences in the past but finally broke down and got this one because of the lifetime warranty and the need for something that can handle certain frying tasks without instigating a horrific cleanup.I have to say the pictures don't do it justice: this thing is BIG and made very well. The handle is hollow but sealed and the pan is very 'meaty' and heavy but not overly so.After using it a few times already I had discovered that this thing is a real jewel and heats evenly without the need for excessive temperatures.Overall? HIGHLY recommended.

Some of these are pretty common knowledge but here are a few pointers to keep in mind when you own a pan like this:

Don't use metallic utensils. (Use wood, nylon or high temperature plastic)
Don't preheat before use.
Don't use at any temperature over medium.(Trust me, you won't need to)
Don't run through the dishwasher. (Even if the instructions say otherwise)
Don't allow water to stand in the pan for any length of time when not in use.
Don't wash when it's hot.Just use a paper towel to wipe clean and wash later when things cool off.
Don't stack your non stick pans, especially this one being the size it is.These things tend to peal first from the upper rim and if you stack these you are asking for it.

This may seem like a lot but it's nothing when you consider the pain and suffering involved with cleaning up stainless steel frying pans after a bad frying experience.

Hope this helps and happy cooking!

Product Description
Henckels International Clad Cookware is tri-ply cookware composed of 18/10 stainless, aluminum and magnetic stainless. The middle aluminum layer extends from the base up the sides of the pan so the heat is conducted evenly throughout the pan. This increases the cooking performance of the pan and eliminates hot spots, which can burn foods because of uneven heating when cooking. The stainless steel material on the interior cooking surface and outside of the pan is high strength, resistant to rusting and does not react when in contact with food.

Review of J.A. Henckels International Classic Clad 12-Inch Fry Pan

First, note there is no lid included, as the illustrations in the product description might lead you to believe.
This is a big pan, and if you fry things in big batches (I like to make spaghetti sauce in 4 gallon batches, with a proportionate amount of hamburger frying), this works great. It heats evenly and cleans easily, and the quality is top-drawer.When you cook eggs, the ones on the outside of the pan cook at the same rate as the one in the middle, something you don't get with all frying pans.
On the downside, the handle is very heavy. So when you sit it on the stove to preheat (empty), it overbalances to the handle side, rather than sitting flat on the burner. And a pan this size could use a ring, or grip, on the side opposite the handle, as many other pans have. When you have 2 or 3 lbs of hamburger inside, and want to drain the fat, it's trick balancing things with just the single handle.
I did some digging, and couldn't find anything better for the price, so I'm willing to live with the shortcomings. They are annoying but not deal-breakers.Until something better comes along, this is a good buy.

Review of Farberware Accents 4-Quart Covered Deep Jumbo Cooker, Blue

The pan worked fine until it warped on the bottom and would not stay flat on the stove.I sent it back for a refund.

Product Description
This pan is wide enough to cook a pound of bacon or flip a few pancakes, and deep enough to accommodate a feast-size batch of chicken cacciatore or pork chops and sauerkraut. Useful as an open or covered pan, its width and depth make it versatile pan for breakfast, lunch or dinner meals. It features a nonstick interior so that you may cook without added oils and still enjoy easy clean-up afterwards.
