I enjoy using my skillet, but from the description ("virtually indestructible"), I was under the assumption that the diamond surface was scratch proof. Not so. I make every effort to protect the surface, using only wooden, plastic, or heat-resistant rubber utensils--plus I wash it by hand; but it still managed to get several scratches.

Review of Swiss Diamond 12.5 inch Fry Pan

I bought this piece a few months ago along with the 3.2 qt. saucepan. If you've seen any of my other reviews, then you already know I really love this cookware! Summer is coming up, so it's time to get that wok, too.

Rest assured, this is the best non-stick cookware money can buy! Forget the cheaper brands--I've tried most all of them from Calphalon Commercial to the cheap Walmart variety. I hope they don't quit making this stuff!

Review of Swiss Diamond Cast-Aluminum Nonstick 3.2-Quart Saucepan with Lid

Bought this piece about a month ago after trying out several other pieces. I love this stuff!! My original 11" fry pan still looks great with no peeling, scratch marks, etc., even after 7 months of hard use. Wish they'd put this stuff on sale--I'd buy it for Christmas for others & a set for the camper, too. I just can't say enough about this cookware--definitely lives up to its claims.

Review of Swiss Diamond Replacement 20 cm Round Cover for 3.2 Quart Saucepan and 8 Inch Fry Pan

I bought this for my non-Swiss Diamond 8-inch frying pan, and it fits well.Unlike other lids I've used, quality is good and it doesn't look or feel cheap.Center plastic knob has a nice little on/off vent if you want to let out the steam. This lid gave me a positive image of the brand.

Review of Swiss Diamond Cast-Aluminum Nonstick 7-Piece Cookware Set

I made a list of my likes and dislikes of all of the cookware I've ever used.

My List: Non-stick, easy cleanup, no rivets in the cooking area, clear ventable covers, no squishy handles, a durable lining to handle meats with bones, and something I wouldn't have to replace every couple of years.

After searching the internet for my perfect cookware I decided to try Swiss Diamond.So far, I'm extremely happy with it.

A word of warning though.Food really doesn't stick.I almost tossed breakfast out of the skillet one morning, when I moved it to a different burner.Needless to say, cleanup has been a breeze.

The clear ventable covers are good.I don't have to remove the lid to see if I need to turn things over.(The stove doesn't get splattered with greese, from me checking the food status every few minutes.)

I haven't cooked meats with bones in the cookware yet, but my 13 year old nephew scrambled eggs with a metal fork.Yes, I was very afraid...Absolutely no marks.So, I'm pretty sure the meats with bones won't be an issue.Turns out that diamonds are not just a girl's best friend.

Negatives: 1-The stew pot is larger than I'm use to, which impels me to cook double batches.(Although, that is a positive for left-overs and family gatherings...)2-The price was higher than what I paid for replacements, but if I don't have to get use to new cookware every couple of years, I'm good.

Review of Swiss Diamond 12-1/2-Inch Fry Pan

I was getting sick of all the non-stick skillets that would warp and scratch and fall apart after a few uses and they weren't even that cheap. I decided to search for a quality non-stick pan and this is what I found. I wanted the largest size for my big Sunday breakfasts. It's expensive but it's worth every penny. The surface is super slick and it wraps all the way around the lip and down the sides. Cleanup is easy. The heat conductivity is truly unsurpassed, and I have a lot of pans and skillets! The best part is the bottom of the pan is FLAT. If you have gone to all the trouble to level your stove, this pan makes it worthwhile. No more eggs gathering in the middle or side of your pan. Take note that this is a heavy pan. It weighs as much as a cast iron skillet, so you'll get a workout. If your wrists and arms are weak, I suggest a smaller size.

Review of Swiss Diamond Cast-Aluminum Nonstick 8-Inch Fry Pan

I found & purchased this pan at the beginning of September when there was only one review for all of the pieces. I wanted to use as a test pan before ordering more. Let me tell you this is definitely on my Christmas list! I am thoroughly impressed.

I have used this pan nearly daily & sometimes twice daily since receiving it and it has performed flawlessly. Within the month my husband stacked knives, forks & spoons inside it & then topped it off with 6 dinner plates. I nearly had a heart attack! My son had done that to a Calphalon Commercial Nonstick fry pan & I had to throw it in the trash. I quickly unloaded it, all the while chastising my husband for doing that to a nonstick. I inspected it closely, but couldn't find one nick or scratch! I was absolutely amazed!

I cooked bacon one day & decided to use my rectangular iron bacon press in it. I accidently scraped the sides a couple different times with no damage whatsoever.

Another day I accidently left the empty pan on the burner at medium-low heat for well over 20 minutes. The burner itself started to smoke, but not the pan! No warping or darkening of the finish. I was sure then I had done it in, but again I was wrong.

I must admit that I don't use metal utensils in it, although it states that you can. I always use silicone (mostly) or nylon. I also don't put it into the dishwasher as I won't have one till the kitchen gets remodeled, so have not tested it in these two aspects.

I must warn others that this pan takes a few minutes to heat up fully. I heat it up on medium-high heat every time and then reduce the temperature to medium to medium-low. I flash-cooked bacon the first time I used it due to failing to reduce the temperature.

Now, if they just made bakeware & small appliances with this stuff on it...

Review of Swiss Diamond Cast-Aluminum Nonstick 12-1/2-Inch Fry Pan

I have been looking for a good non-stick skillet. I've used non-stick skillets from All-Clad and Calphalon but they all had one problem: peeling of the non-stick layer. I saw an unused All-Clad skillet from their new line at Williams-Sonoma and it had scratches on the non-stick surface.

I found what I was looking for! This fry pan is excellent! It is made in Switzerland. It is big. The outside diameter is 13" and the bottom is almost 9 3/4". It requires a large burner. I have a Miele electric cooktop which has a burner large enough for this skillet. I have tried it over a smaller burner and it worked as well. The food browned evenly over the surface of the skillet. The cleaning is easy. I only have a small issue with the lid. The lid assembly was easy. However, during washing water gets into the steam vent and then it comes out after the lid is dried. It takes few drying sweeps to avoid water streaks on the lid.

Overall, I am very pleased with this skillet. I am looking forward to getting more skillets from Swiss Diamond.

Update. May 2009. Zero stars.
Like its predecessors from All-Clad and Calphalon, this skillet stopped being non-stick after about a year. It wasn't abused in any way: no metal utensils and no prolonged cooking of foods other than pancakes and fish. Yet, the center of the skillet began to darken first, than the rest of the skillet has darkened. I used baking soda (suggested by All-Clad website). It did remove some brown residue but the skillet is completely not non-stick, everything sticks to it even more.

I am happy with a non-stick skillet from Circulon infinite line. I bought an 11" skillet at Macy's for $20 as a product promotion item. The best non-stick that I have is from LeCreuset. Unfortunately, the largest one LeCreuset made was 9" in diameter.

Review of Swiss Diamond 6-Piece Cast-Aluminum Cookware Set

My experience is the opposite of the reviews posted here.

I followed all instructions and cook at medium heat or lower.Yet, the only things that I cook, that is, oatmeal and congee (rice soup) both stick to the pot.I need to soak the pot in water for the food to dislodge.

Definitely NOT worth the more than $200 I spent on the set.

Better to buy a cheap teflon pan set and get better results.
