Review of Old Dutch 008MB 5.5 Inch Round Matte Black Cast Iron Hobnail Trivet

My Old Dutch teapot gets very hot when the tea is steeping, so I purchased this cute little trivet to keep it on. It has rubber holders on the bottom so it doesn't slip and slide on the countertop. The shiny black color looks great with any color teapot and is very well made. I'm very happy with this purchase!

Review of Old Dutch 60.5 Six Shelf Graphite Cookware Stand - 106GU

This piece looks great and works perfect for a kitchen that doesn't have room for a hanging pot rack. I've had it for 2 years now and continue to get compliments on it with everyone that visits. Matches my anodized Calphalon pans perfectally. Just be warned, is slightly smaller than it appears - top few tiers are small, and will accomodate only small saucepans or teapot. Great product - just know what you're buying.

Review of Old Dutch Cookware Rack with Grid, Graphite

I purchased the Old Dutch 36.2 x 9 x 12 Graphite Bookshelf with Grid and 12 Hooks (manufacturer item # 104GU) to compliment my Calphalon One Anodized cookware set.

Simply put, this was an easy install -- but only if you take the time to make sure you have measured twice and absolutely use a level!

There are just four mounting (wood) screws.Because the item is heavy, you must install the rack in your wall's studs, otherwise you are just asking for trouble.

Here are the tools that you will need:

Stud finder

Level

Drill with 3/8" bit (cordless drill works well, but it will require a drill with medium to heavy torque to drive the screws)

Phillips screwdriver or bit for your drill

#10 metric wrench or socket and driver

You can install the rack by yourself (I did), but because of its weight, it will go smoother if you have a helping hand to hold the rack against the wall and hand you the power drill while you measure the holes (be sure to use the level!), drill and then fasten the mounting screws.

The top two screws can be installed with your power screwdriver, but because of the heavy torque required to securely fasten the screws so that the rack mounting bracket is flush with the wall, I highly recommend you use a wrench/sock to finish fastening the screws which do have a #10 metric head.

The bottom two mounting screws, unless you have a power screwdriver that has a low profile in tight spaces or is bendable, will require you to use either an ordinary Phillips screwdriver (short length for more torque) and/or just the wrench. This is so because the mounting hole on the bottom of the rack is directly opposite the front of the rack -- there is just not enough space to drive a screw with your power tool. You can start with the hand screwdriver (as I did), but you'll need the torque of the wrench to finish fastening the screws.

Once your screws are fastened, all that remains is to merely lay the wire rack on the bottom of the shelf.Add your hooks, pots and pans and you're done!

Review of Old Dutch 9-Inch Pedestal Colander, Copper

The first colander I received was off-balance in the extreme - one side was fully half an inch lower than the other. But I'm thrilled that return of the defective item and replacement was so easy: in two days I had a perfect replacement in the kitchen - product and service on the level!

Review of Old Dutch Copper Beating Bowls and Whisk, Set of 3

IF USED FOR COOKING YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO REMOVED THE LACQUER:
Based on the literature on this web site, when I bought these bowls, I thought unless you cooked with them (namely heated them up with food in them), you could leave the lacquer on. However, once I bought the bowls, the directions said if used with food, the lacquer should be removed using a lacquer remover.

REMOVING THE LACQUER IS COSTLY, TIME CONSUMING AND MESSY:
That being said and looking at the laminate removers out there, most are made of methylene chloride a deadly poison. I opted for a more expensive safer citrus lacquer remover. Also you need to polish them (on the outside, to compensate for the loss of the lacquer) This lacquer remover, brush, gloves and scrubber almost tripled the cost of these bowls. I'm still not sure the lacquer had to be removed to use for mixing other food items, but I didn't want to risk lacquer coming off in my food, if this coating was not be left on there.

WHEN THE LACQUER IS OFF THE BOWLS TARNISH:
Once you take the lacquer off the bowls have exposed copper for providing extra lift to your eggs. However, when they are exposed to air they tarnish.

IF YOU ARE USING FOR OTHER THAN TO INCREASE VOLUME IN EGGS, MAYBE NOT THE BEST BUY:
I originally bought these bowls to mix up eggs for scrambled eggs and for other items as pancakes. I like the little ring that made them easy to hold onto. This is why they were purchased, not to fluff eggs. Also, these bowls have round bottoms and will easily roll off the countertop if unbalanced. This is better for decoration and fluffing eggs than day to day use.

A GOOD BUY IF FOR DECORATION ONLY:
Given that including the need to remove the lacquer and the continuous polishing required after, is most useful for fluffing eggs only, I would opt for these pans at this price for decoration only.

Review of Old Dutch Cookware Rack with Grid, Chrome

I ordered this pot rack after tiring of the mess of pots in my kitchen cabinets.I needed one that mounted on a wall, as I don't have an island in my kitchen.I do have plenty of wall space, however. This rack is well built and took me about 3 minutes to assemble. The only difficult part was making sure I drilled into wall studs when affixing it to the wall.It looks great and holds a surprising number of pots.Further, the top has plenty of surface area to store lids, etc.
