Review of VillaWare V5225 Crepe Maker

I grew up in a Crepe lovin' household. We had sweet crepes for breakfast, savory crepes for lunch and meat filled crepes for dinner.
I always have used a stove top crepe pan and thought it slow and kind of a pain. That is how my dad always did it so I always thought it was the best way.
Not anymore. A friend recommended I try the Villaware electric crepe maker. Non stick coating, quick and easy. Boy were they right. Just dip the the cooker in the pan they include and you are making a crepe every 25 seconds or so. Easy to clean. I love this thing. Good recipes too, altough their basic recipe is not sweet enough.
If you love crepes. This is the piece to get.

Review of Presto Pro EverSharp Electric Knife Sharpener

One night my husband spent three hours sharpening our Chicago Cutlery set by hand and afterwards said he wanted to find an electric sharpner. We started pricing them, but from what we saw they ranged from $80-$135. I went online and found the EverSharp and after reading the reviews purchased it and set it aside for XMas. I just have to say that it has lived up to expectations and then some. It's amazing how quick and effecient this sharpner is! In less than five minutes my husband had our Cutlery knives sharpened even better than they were when we originally got them. He then sharpened his mother's knives that have never had a good sharpening.
I knew I had bought him a good product when after each sharpening he looked at the knife and whispered: "Oh my God!"
Great results at a great price!

Review of Hamilton Beach 40515 42-Cup Coffee Urn, Silver

We have a large (extended) family living in one household and we go through 4-5 pots of coffee in a day. This urn is an inexpensive way for us to meet the demands of all the coffee drinkers here. And everyone likes the coffee it makes. The only thing I miss that I have on the drip machine is the timer (we have a couple of very early risers) and easy on/off.We attached ours to a timer so that it will start brewing early enough. One other thing - not a complaint, but a note about how it works, since it is a percolater, it takes longer to brew.Expect about 20 minutes for a full pot.

We use this coffee urn every day.If we wear it out, I will purchase another one just like it as it is so reasonably priced!

Product Description
Makes 12 to 42 cups. Cup-per-minute brewing speed. Water-level indicators. Ready-to-serve light. Easy to fill. 2-way dispenser. Twist-lock lid and large handles. Removable cord. Glossy aluminum finish. Comfortable handles. Easy to clean and store. Dishwasher safe twist-lock lid and brew basket.

Review of Norpro Krona 10 Inch Egg Poacher Skillet Set

In a competitor's (let's say Brand X) poacher with plastic (ugh) cups, the thermal conductivity of the cups is so low that eggs effectively cook only from the top down from being directly exposed to the steam.Result:after 9 minutes of poaching (at 7300 feet), the yolk (which floats on top) and the top half of the egg white are firm; meanwhile the egg white on the bottom still quivers like jelly and is semi-transparent (ugh). And the cooking pan is quite shallow (just under one and one half inches inner measure), with the result that boiling water easily spills over on top of the poaching eggs, creating a real mess inside and out.

The stainless steel egg cups on this unit are perfectly formed and slightly flattened on the bottom with a thermal conductivity so good that eggs cook pretty equally from all sides. The pan is quite deep (just under two and three-eight inches inner measure) so that the poaching tray rides very high over the surface of the boiling water. The result is a perfectly poached egg, no messes, to whatever degree of firmness of the white one wants.Yet one can still have a soft or partially soft yolk, impossible to achieve with "Brand X" above. At an elevation of 7300 feet, poaching time using this pan for a firm white and medium (non-runny) yolk was 6 minutes; for a firm white and softer yolk, between 4 and 5 minutes.Lower elevations should adjust these times downward a minute or two.

Because of its' stainless steel composition, depth and diameter, the pan can also be used for other cooking.Indeed, this reviewer dares to suggest that despite its higher price, this unit is almost a mandatory addition to any good cook's staple of cooking utensils.Because of bad past experiences with the kind of riveted handle attachment to the pan used here, which breaks off too easily, this reviewer docks this unit one-half star.Aside from that, the design and materials of this product are generous indeed; it's appearance is so attractive that this reviewer left it sitting on top of the range as general décor. The only other gripe is with the shipping expense which was one-fourth of the total cost. But in all fairness the heavy-duty packaging did protect the glass lid and unit as a whole.

If you are looking for a great egg poacher, buy this model!

Polished 18/10 stainless steel exterior. Dimensions 10 inch

Review of Hammered Steel with Chrome Bookshelf Pot Rack

As you can see by the other reviews, this is a great pot rack. However I have some very useful information if you want to purchase it.The rack was well designed and the mounts were spaced properly so that you screw the pot rack directly into the studs.

There is a major flaw...the screws that they provide are only 1 1/4 inches long.My kitchen has 3/4 inches of plaster before you hit a stud and the rack is about an 1/8 of an inch wide. That means the screws only bite into the stud a total of 3/8 of an inch. The result...during installation the pot rack ripped itself out of the wall.So I found a better way to mount it.

My solution cost an extra $1.77.I went to Home Depot and I bought five 1/4 by 2 inch lag screws and five 1/4 inch washers.I had previously measured and marked the three mounts on the main unit prior to installation.I then predrilled the holes with a 3/16 inch drill bit.Predrilling is very important, you don't want to split the stud when putting the lag screws in.And of course check your measurements so you don't miss the studs or put in any extra holes in your wall.

Next put the washers on the lag screws and use a ratchet to screw them in place.Once the main portion of the rack was in place I installed the 2 supports, predrilled each hole, and installed the remaining lag screws.

This pot rack is easily 10 times stronger than it would have been with the original hardware.I would hang cast iron cookware off of it without hesitation. It looks great in the kitchen and is ultra stable.I highly recommend the pot rack so long as you replace the original mounting hardware.
